Russian lawmaker blames speculators for weak ruble

 

Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko said at a press conference today that the dollar rate of 80.1 ruble and the euro rate of 100.74 rubles had been caused by speculators on December 16. She noted that the idea of Yevgeny Tarlo, a member of the economic committee of the Federation Council, to check the Central Bank was declined, RIA Novosti reports.In her words, heads of two committees saw no need in the inspection. Matviyenko believes that it is better to study the current state of affairs instead.
