The Russian Prosecutor General's Directorate in the NCFD says that the damage caused by corrupt functionaries in the region increased fourfold in 2014 compared with the previous year, SKFO.ru reports.

Over 1,500 corruption-related crimes were registered in 2014. 621 criminal cases were sent to the court, 541 people were sentenced.

The case of Radislav Philippov, the director general of Revvel-Stroy Group, was especially outrageous. He stole over 288 million rubles of budget funds. Artem Nazarov, an ex-head of an investigative office, demanded a bribe of 24 million rubles in exchange for the closing of a criminal case.
