Yerlan Idrisov, the minister of foreign affairs of Kazakhstan, said that 2014 confirmed the strength of relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

"This year has confirmed the durability of our relations with the Russian Federation. The year was marked by the ratification and entering into force of the Treaty on Good-neighborliness and Alliance in the 21st century," he recalled, speaking at a briefing in Astana on Friday.

"We had an active exchange of visits. The palette of our relations with the Russian Federation is wide, covering the political sphere, security issues, issues of economic relations," Idrisov said.

He noted that Kazakhstan is an important economic partner of Russia and the RF provides a very important market and an important transit space for Kazakhstan.
