Militants Mahauri Ramzan, Ramzan Gagayev and Amerkhan Amathanov, who were eliminated in Ingushetia on December 28, arrived in the republic of Chechnya in order to organize a terrorist attack, according to Albert Barakhoev, the Acting Secretary of the Security Council. He also revealed that the militants were detected by a bus passenger who was heading to Ordzhonikidzevskaya.

"As part of the anti-terrorism committee activity we distributed leaflets recently. These consisted of photographs of criminals and their involvement in specific crimes. Underneath were the telephone numbers of various services - the FSB, the Interior Ministry, the Security Council. Each leaflet consists of four photos" Barakhoev said.

Because of this, the passenger recognised the criminals. Further, "without attracting attention, he called one of the phone numbers and reported about it. When the bus arrived in Ordzhonikidze, the police were already waiting for the criminals. When they came out, the police went after them. But they offered armed resistance, and were killed," the Regional Secretary of the Security Council informed.

All the fighters were "Meskhetians who identified themselves as Chechens," Barakhoev said. "All of them were members of the "Sunzha gang", which acts on the territory of Chechnya and Ingushetia. Mahauri and Gagayev were the inhabitants of the village of Assinovskaya. These people arrived in Ingushetia to commit a terrorist act," he said.
