Today in Kazan's Kul Sharif mosque Russia's first continuous reading of the Koran has begun.

"Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, throughout all seasons in the Kul Sharif mosque the Koran will be read and prayers for the welfare of Russia and Tatarstan will be offered," Interfax cites the press service of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan (SAMT).

The representative of the Republican SAMT stressed that it was rhe first time such a reading of the Koran was organized in the history of the country.
