CEO of INA "Russia Today" Dmitry Kiselev during his visit to Iran the previous day signed a memorandum of cooperation with the state news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRNA).

"Iran and Russia are natural allies in building a multi-polar and mixed, multi-colored world," said Dmitry Kiselev during the meeting with the president of IRNA Mohammed Haddad, quoted by RIA Novosti.

"We have much in common with the administration of IRNA in the understanding of the situation in the international information space and the purposes of our work," he added.

According to the signed memorandum, the sides will develop bilateral cooperation in order to strengthen cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran. Joint projects of the two agencies will focus on creating a common information space and to promote objective coverage of the two countries in the world media field.

"Relations between the two countries are at a high level. It is necessary to fill the gap in the information sphere. In our work, we have to rely on first-hand information rather than on sources of third-country nationals," said Haddad.

According to the results of the negotiations, the parties have identified further ways to cooperate.
