Though 62.8% of Ukrainians believe that the fight for the Donbass region makes sense, the people of Ukraine are much less willing to fight for Crimea, according to a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology.

Only 18.5% of respondents agreed that the peninsula must be won back. In the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions this venture, unlike in Galicia, is considered to be pointless.

According to the survey, the most popular version is "Crimea is lost forever for Ukraine." It is shared of 23.5% of the population, including 57.7% of those surveyed in the Donetsk region, reports Zn.ua.

Predominantly Southern neighbors (21.1 % of those surveyed) believe that the breakaway republic will return voluntarily if Ukraine becomes a developed, economically attractive state.
