Armenian Diaspora Minister Granush Akopyan together with vice-minister Stepan Petrosyan arrived in Russia on a working visit, NewsArmenia reports, citing the Diaspora Minister’s press-service.
On October 1-2 representatives of Armenian communities from Barnaul, Ulan-Ude, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Abakan, Krasnoyarsk, Sakhalin, Chita, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tomsk will meet in Krasnoyarsk.
The aim of the meeting is to present the basic principles of the work of the Armenian government with the Diaspora and the strategic plans of the Armenian Diaspora Minister, as well as to support the institutional development of Armenian communities in Russia and to establish a direct contact between them. The participants will discuss issues of preserving Armenian identity in Armenian communities, prospects of inter-community communication and the role of Armenian communities in Russia in Armenian-Russian bilateral and regional relations. Community leaders will present their approaches to the concept of repartition developed by the Ministry and the draft of the law “On Repartition”.
