Al-Qaeda announces its participation in Charlie Hebdo office attack

A representative of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in Yemen has confirmed that the group took an active part in the organization of the terrorist act on the Charlie Hebdo office.

"Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula" directed the operations and they chose their target carefully (for attack - VK)," TASS cited an Al-Qaeda statement. In addition, a member of Al-Qaeda said that the attack was carried out in Paris in response to offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published in Charlie Hebdo.

As Vestnik Kavkaza reported, the extremist organization Islamic State has also taken responsibility for the attack.
