Agropark to be created in Khizi district of Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani government is going to create an agropark in the Khizi district; the general plan is being prepared, the Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev said during an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, devoted to the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan in 2014 and plans for 2015.

According to the minister, the state took measures to support the agricultural sector. Additional benefits were given to producers. "Currently, to ensure effective use of agricultural lands and water resources, exceeding 30 thousand hectares, in 12 districts of the country 19 large farms are being established with the support of the state," Interfax-Azerbaijan quotes the minister.
The Minister stressed that the opening of the Shamkirchay water reservoir has create new opportunities for involving new land in agriculture.
Mustafayev added that the work carried out in the agricultural sector in recent years has made it possible to raise fruit exports by 12.5% over 11 months and raise exports of vegetables by 28.6%.
