Medvedev and Putin begin discussing candidates to replace Luzhkov.

President Dmitry Medvedev had a meeting with Russian Prime Minister
Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti was informed by the state press-secretary
Natalia Timakova. After discussions, Medvedev and Putin proceeded to
lunch. The prime minister, who had visited the agricultural exhibition
"Golden Autumn-2010" earlier this Friday, offered the president some
bread and milk - a gift from the Russian farmers.

Medvedev and Putin discussed various aspects of the socio-economic
situation in the country, said Timakova. The president and prime
minister also discussed the creation of a list of candidates for the
office of mayor of Moscow in the party United Russia, she added. Putin
informed Medvedev that such consultations will be held tonight.

Yury Luzhkov, after having been a mayor of Moscow for more than 18
years was “dismissed” from his post by a decree of the President of
Russia “in connection with loss of confidence”.
