Ukraine chooses nuclear fuel on its own

 

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said that the government of Ukraine was deciding what fuel to use at its nuclear power plants. He admitted that it had plants using Russian light-water reactors, TASS reports.Ukraine’s Energoatom and United States’ Westinghouse signed an agreement in late December to increase purchases of nuclear fuel from the U.S. for Ukrainian nuclear power plants until 2020.
