Georgian foreign minister unaware of location of Javakhk
Read on the website Vestnik Kavkaza"There is no region called Javakhk on Georgia's geographical map", Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said in Yerevan.
"There is however the region of Samtskhe Javakheti, whose population has equal rights irrespective of nationality," he added, PanArmenian reports.
Disproving the claims of ethnic discrimination in the region, the Minister said that "Georgia provides Armenian-language textbooks for 103 Armenian schools, graduates of which can enter Georgian higher education institutions after preparation courses."
"We do our best for Georgians and Armenians to enjoy equal rights," he said, adding that all Armenian schools are computer-equipped and all teachers have taken refresher courses.
Samtskhe-Javakheti is a region in southern Georgia, with Akhaltsikhe as its capital. It borders on Armenia and Turkey.
