Iran will help Africa in fighting Boko Haram, media report

Iran has expressed its readiness to support African countries in the fight against the Nigerian Islamic group Boko Haram, the Guardian reports. Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that terrorists can be defeated by collective action.

 

"We are ready to share our experience in combating terrorism, to defeat the Boko Haram group. We will achieve this without a doubt," he said during a summit of the African Union, Gazeta.ru reports.

 

Yesterday, during the closing ceremony of the summit in Addis Ababa, African leaders expressed their willingness to send 7500 soldiers to fight the rebel group Boko Haram, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he supported the deployment of African troops to fight the militants.

 

At the moment the army of the Republic of Chad has joined the active struggle against Boko Haram. Yesterday it was reported that soldiers of Chad had killed 123 militants of the Islamic group.
