Fire in Moscow library destroys unique UN documents

During the fire at one of the largest libraries in Russia, INION located in Moscow, a unique collection of materials on the United Nations has burned down, the deputy director of INION, Dmitry Yefremenko said.

 

INION is one of the largest research centers in Russia in the field of social sciences and humanities. Its collection consisted of 14.2 million copies of items in ancient and modern Asian, European and Russian languages, including rare editions from the 16th to early 20th century. Some of the documents in the possession of the library were the only copies in the world.
