Baku clarifies NYT reps’ visit to Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has clarified the visit by representatives of the New York Times to the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said today that representatives of the New York Times, complying with the laws of Azerbaijan, had visited the territories of Azerbaijan which have been occupied by Armenia in order to make a report on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.

 

He said the New York Times had informed the Republic of Azerbaijan in advance about the visit's intention and its representatives obtained visas to enter the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and they were provided with the appropriate press accreditation cards to engage in journalistic activities on the territory of Azerbaijan, including on the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
