Bulgaria and Turkey will connect their gas transmission networks
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaBoyko Borisov, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, announced on Monday in
Sofia that Bulgaria and Turkey are going to connect their gas
transmission networks, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the Bulgarian
news agency Focus.
"This is the first step towards diversification of gas deliveries to
Bulgaria," Borisov said after meeting with Redgep Tayyip Erdogan, the
Prime Minister of Turkey, who is on a working visit to Bulgaria.
According to Borisov, the gas will be transported to Bulgaria via a
side branch of the Nabucco gas pipeline.
The main aim of the Nabucco project is to supply the European region
with gas from the Caspian sea, bypassing Russia through Azerbaijan,
Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria.
