U.S. to assist Jordan with $1 billion annually

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said after signing a memorandum of understanding with Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh that the U.S. will grant Jordan a financial aid of $1 billion in the next 5 years. Until recently, Jordan had been receiving about $660 million from the U.S., TASS reports.Kerry reminded that both the U.S. and Jordan were fighting against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The U.S. considers King Abdullah II a steadfast and reliable ally, according to the U.S. secretary of state.The diplomat added that the U.S. and Jordan were cooperating in military training, peacekeeping, healthcare and education.Over 800,000 refugees are currently hiding from extremism in Jordan, in Kerry’s words.
