Poroshenko: Ukraine will never be a federation

Ukraine will remain a unitary state, President Petro Poroshenko said on Tuesday.

"Ukraine will never be a federation, it will remain a unitary state," TASS cited him as saying. 

Poroshenko claimed that 85% of Ukrainians were in favor of Ukraine continuing as a unitary state.

He said he was confident of that choice of the nation and was ready "to put this matter to a referendum." 

At a meeting with a delegation of the Venice Commission earlier on Tuesday, Poroshenko said his country was following the path of reforms and decentralization.
