Kosachev: 'Yalta system' can still be revived
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, said that the foundations of the world order established at the Yalta Conference in 1945 can still be recovered, despite the current difficult relations between Russia and the West.
According to him, it's too soon to talk about the collapse of the 'Yalta system', despite the crisis in Europe today.
"There's a chance of keeping the system. I think that the United Nations certainly didn't become obsolete, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe gets a second wind. We had almost buried the OSCE in 1990, but now we have a chance to negotiate at the site of the OSCE," Kosachev said.
"Yes, the 'Yalta system' is in crisis, but it is certainly not dead, and it is suitable for intensive care," the MP concluded.
