Cornell: US does not know what to do with Azerbaijan

The changing geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus could be the cause of the emergence of tensions in relations between Azerbaijan and the US.

This was stated by the Swedish scientist, the director and co-founder of the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP), the research director of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, Svante Cornell.

Recently, some US politicians and the American press have actively and deliberately engaged in criticism of Azerbaijan, he said.

"The tensions in the relations between Azerbaijan and the US are an inappropriate response by the United States to the situation in the region," Trend cited Cornell as saying.
