Javad Mirjavadov’s paintings to be presented at Sotheby’s

The works of Azerbaijani painter Javad Mirjavadov will be presented at Sotheby’s in London on February 17-19, 2015. The artist born in Baku was painting in Moscow in the 60-80s, abc.az reports.

Mirjavadov’s works are bright, expressive, full of symbols and subtext. 

Having graduated from art school in Baku in 1949, Mirjavadov spent years in Leningrad. He found a job at the State Hermitage and gained access to the impressionist and post-impressionist artwork of its collections. Farah Periyeva will supervise the exhibition. Carpets of the Azerbaijani State Arts Museum will be demonstrated at the exhibition too, their ornaments had an impact on Mirjavadov’s works.
