Azerbaijan tries to get hero city status for Baku

Today, Milli Majlis vice speaker Ziafet Askerov stated that he is in favor of Russia granting hero city status to Baku. 

"We demand historical justice. Azerbaijan does not need any condescension. We demand only confirmation of the historical fact that the victory in the Great Patriotic War was achieved also thanks to the work of Azerbaijani oilmen and Baku oil. The world should know and recognize this fact of history," Interfax cited the vice speaker.

"We’re waiting for Russia’s decision on granting hero city status to Baku," Askerov said, commenting on a similar initiative by MP Evda Abramov. The Vice speaker reminded that the Milli Majlis has already raised this issue and expects a fair decision on it.
