Azerbaijan and Iran to combat smuggling together
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaColonel-General Elchin Huliyev, the head of the Azerbaijani State Border Service, and Major-General Hasim Rezai, his Iranian counterpart, have signed memorandums of understanding at the 8th session of the Iranian Border Forces and the Azerbaijani State Border Service in Tehran.
The documents stipulate joint efforts to combat smuggling and illegal border crossing, Mehr reports.
The sides discussed measures to prevent smuggling and illegal border crossings. They agreed to hold such sessions in cities located near the border zone.
Huliyev has also met with Ismail Ahmadi Mugaddam, the Iranian police chief, and discussed the problem of terrorism and drug smuggling.
