Penalty for disclosure of confidential information may become harsher in Azerbaijan

According to amendments to the Criminal Code discussed by the Azerbaijani parliament at the plenary session, disclosure of secret information without treachery will be punished with 3-6 years of jail (currently 2-5 years) and a ban from state service for 3 years, Trend reports.


Should the disclosure lead to grave consequences, the punishment may be 4-8 years (currently 3-7 years) with a ban from state service for 5 years.
