Kazakhstan will temporarily ban import of fuel from Russia

Kazakhstani Deputy Minister for Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev said that the republic will ban imports of fuel from Russia for 45 days, starting on March 5. He clarified that Kazakhstan was signing indicative balances on duty-free fuel shipments. According to the document, Kazakhstan may import 1.1 million tons of gasoline and 760,000 tons of diesel fuel from Russia this year, RIA Novosti reports.A high volume of fuel was imported in the first two months of 2015, so further imports were halted to keep the market regulated.The Kazakhstani Energy Ministry and KazMunaiGas had earlier expressed concerns that cheap gasoline from Russia could freeze Kazakhstani oil refineries.
