The Turkish parliamentary committee on international affairs has approved the military cooperation agreement signed with Qatar, allowing Turkey to deploy forces on the territory of Qatar in the Persian Gulf and forces of Qatar in Turkey, said Berat Jonkar, a member of the committee, TASS reports.

The document also stipulates exchange of military specialists, joint drills and development of industry. It is unrelated to the recent agreement with the U.S. to train Syrian opposition.

Jonkar added that Ankara was planning to sign such agreements with other countries of the Persian Gulf in the near future.
