Hakan Fidan has been reappointed as Turkey's spy chief, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said yesterday.

According to him, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu accessed the reappointment.

"Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu reappointed Hakan Fidan as chief of MIT. There is a corresponding order, according to which he will soon begin his duties," TASS cited Arinc.

Fidan had resigned from his post as head of Turkey’s premier intelligence agency, the National Intelligence Agency (MIT), on February 7, and then said he was expecting to stand in the upcoming elections.

Yesterday he announced that he is withdrawing his nomination in the upcoming general elections.
