U.S. ambassador encourages Armenia to release Askerov and Guliyev as humanitarian gesture

U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, commenting on the trial of Azerbaijani prisoners in Armenia Dilgham Askerov and Shakhbaz Guliyev, said that their release would be a humanitarian gesture on the part of Armenia and a significant step towards a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute, Trend reports.

The diplomat reminded that U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland had raised the issue during her visit to Armenia. Cekuta added that the U.S. will continue searches for solutions to the conflict.
