NATO chief: European army should complement NATO army

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after talks with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Garcia-Margallo y Marfil that the European army, the formation of which is currently being discussed, should complement the NATO army, RIA Novosti reports.

In his words, the European army should not duplicate NATO functions. The foreign minister called formation of the army the basis for development of the security project. Stoltenberg emphasized that the project should be an extension of NATO policy.
