According to US intelligence sources, who wished to remain anonymous, Iran has deployed advanced rockets and missiles to help Iraq fight Islamic State in Tikrit.

Iran has sent Fajr-5 artillery rockets, which can strike at a distance of 75 km, and Fateh-110 missiles, which can affect objects at a distance of 300 km.

According to information from an alternative source, Iran received a slightly modified version of the missiles.

The Iraqi army will need rockets to hit targets which are around Tikrit, RIA Novosti cited an article published in the New York Times.

At the same time, the military experts do not believe that these missiles will help to liberate Tikrit.
