The Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) will be petitioning the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) within one month with a formal request to increase the price of electricity in the country, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“It is not known how much the ENA will propose raising prices, but the PSRC, most likely, will increase the electricity price by 5-7 drams, thus the electricity price will go up by around 15-16%, Day.Az reports.

“The electricity price hike is due to the fact that an extreme situation has been created throughout our energy system. The whole system is buried up to its throat in debt. According to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yervand Zakharyan, the debt of the energy system has reached $600 million,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
