New Jersey adopts resolution on the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe General Assembly of the State of New Jersey joins in marking the solemn occasion of Azerbaijani Remembrance day on March 31, 2015. The genocide of March 31, 1918, in which more than 20,000 innocent Azerbaijani people lost their lives, an event that represents one of the most condemnable atrocities in the history of the world.
The document was signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly of the State of Vincent Prieto and the secretary Dana Burley.
"The survival and recovery of the Azerbaijani people from this terrible tribulation have given hope and inspiration to oppressed and persecuted people all over the world," the document says.
"After Azerbaijan gained its independence, it was deemed appropriate that March 31 would forever be remembered as the date of infamy to the Azerbaijani people," the members of the Assembly said.
"It is fitting that we emphasize the importance for all civilized nations to remain vigilant against tyranny to ensure that such atrocities will never again be committed," the New Jersey assembly believes.
