Negotiations between the aeronautical authorities of Georgia and Russia on flights are being delayed due to the fact that the Georgian side is defending the interests of their country, the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Mikeladze said today.

"We did not expect any delegation, especially from Aeroflot, so those negotiations which began in December continue till this day. First of all, we are defending the interests of our country and our national shipping companies. That's why the negotiations have been delayed," News-Georgia cited Mikeladze.

At this stage, the airlines of Georgia and Russia continue to operate 18 weekly flights on the Moscow-Tbilisi route.
