Opposition member arrested in Iran

An opposition member of the central council of the Allied Front, Ali Shukuriad, has been arrested, prosecutor of Tehran Abbas Jafari Dovlatabadi said, Trend reports, citing Iranian information agency FARS.


Dovlatabadi did not clarify the accusations.


Iranian media report that Shukuriad published a critical article in his blog about Gulamguseyne Mokhsuni Ajeyi, the former security minister and representative of the Iranian court system, and the general prosecutor of Iran.
Dovlatabi added that Mehdi Hashimi, son of Ali Akper Hashimi-Rafsanjani, chairman of the Consulting Council of Iran will be arrested on his arrival in the country.


Mehdi and Faiz Hashimi, children of Iranian Ex-President Ali Akper Hashimi-Rafsanjani, were accused for provoking unrest in the country, including the organization of massive protests against results of presidential elections in June 2009. A criminal case was initiated.


Faiz Hashimi has been arrested twice. Mehdi Hashimi is living in UK.
