Baku thanks Moscow for the evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens from Yemen carried out on the Russian aircraft. This has been stated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Hikmet

"A group of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic had been evacuated from Yemen on the Russian plane, and we are grateful to the Russian Federation for its support ... For evacuating another group of Azerbaijani citizens from Yemen, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Saudi Arabia continues to negotiate with the Russian side," APA quotes Hajiyev..

The diplomat adds that Turkey has also offered its assistance in this matter.

"Turkey has also expressed its readiness to assist in the evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens on the plane as soon as the technical issues are solved and the permit for the flight is obtained. We want to thank Turkey for it. In general, about 20 Azerbaijani citizens were in Yemen and many of them are married. Seven Azerbaijani citizens have been registered at the embassy consular of Azerbaijan in Saudi Arabia, which is also accredited in Yemen," says Hajiyev.

In addition, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it maintains constant contact with the citizens of Azerbaijan who are still in Yemen.

"In connection with the events that have occurred in Yemen since February 2015, hot line is open on the website of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Saudi Arabia,"  says Hajiyev.
