Five trees may become natural monuments in North Ossetia

Five 100-year-old trees in North Ossetia may be given status of natural monuments. North Ossetia has over a dozen aged trees, many of them are sacred, Yuga.ru reports.The program of aged trees includes a 500-year-old oak in Ardon. It is associated with the Ossetian pantheon of deities, Alardy. The tree is about 20m tall and has a diameter of 1.91m.Furthermore, Kadgaron boasts a 200-year-old lintel. Dargkokh has an oak with a circumference of 4.55m and a height of 30m. It has 8 trunks.A certifying commission has studied the trees. A registry of unique, aged trees will be formed. A special album dedicated to old trees in Russia will be published.
