Azerbaijan starts wheat import

Azerbaijan has started wheat import. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture Bakhram Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has already imported 1 million tons of grain to fulfill consumer demands.

Azerbaijan saw a reduced harvest this year, dropping from 3 million tons in 2009 to 2 million tons. The decline was caused by a heatwave, News.am reports.
