Iranian airliner’s engine explodes before takeoff at Istanbul

One of the engines of an Iranian Qeshm Air passenger plane flying to Tehran exploded as the aircraft was preparing for takeoff at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

"The right engine of a Qeshm Airlines plane exploded when it gathered speed before taking off," TASS cited Dogan news agency. The pilot was able to stop the plane before the explosion damaged the aircraft’s landing gear.

None of the passengers of the plane were injured. The flight was resumed to Tehran with a delay.
