Turkish FM: operation in Yemen should be the basis for a compromise

Ankara hopes that the military operation conducted by the coalition in Yemen, will create the conditions for political dialogue and compromise, a spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Tanju Bilgic, said.

"We hope the Houthis will withdraw from the regions they have occupied, return heavy weapons, recognize the legitimate president, and launch a process of dialogue," RIA Novosti cited Bilgic.

He said that the foreign ministers of Turkey and Iran may meet in the coming days to discuss efforts to resolve Yemen’s crisis.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 230 citizens of Turkey were evacuated from Yemen. Now there are 48 Turks, who refused to leave the country.
