Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak will discuss Serbia’s admission to the Turkish Stream gas project during his visit to Belgrade in late April – early May, said Serbian Ambassador Slavenko Terzic, Interfax reports.

The diplomat clarified that Novak will discuss the initiative with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

Terzic noted that the discontinuation of the South Stream and the initiation of the Turkish Stream was a blow for Serbian energy security. In his opinion, the Turkish Stream will be a more complicated route, running through Turkey, Bulgaria and Macedonia. The latter, in his words, has serious security problems. The ambassador added that Turkey would technically be able to shut the pipe if necessary.
