Dagestani students to mark 70th anniversary of Victory on Mt. Mayak

Dagestani students and rescuers will ascend the peak of Mt. Mayak in the Gunibsky District on May 8-10 and dedicate their journey to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Interfax-South reports.

The ascent is part of the patriotic program to promote amor patriae, readiness to protect it and respect for the elderly.

Mt. Mayak is the highest point of the Ginibsky Plateau, standing 2,352m above sea level. All of Dagestan can be seen from the top of the mountain. An abyss hundreds of meters deep is located at the root of Mayak.
