Umahanov: Sport in Azerbaijan has an international start

The deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Ilyas Umakhanov, in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza at the presentation of the European Games, which took place yesterday in Moscow, called the First European Games which will be held this summer in Baku, "a new page in the Olympic movement, in sports and in prosperity of the reputation of the Republic of Azerbaijan."

Speaking about the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, the senator stressed that "the degree of confidence in the leaders of the two countries determines everything else. We know with what great respect Vladimir Putin addressed Heydar Aliyev to his memory. And I know how warm and trusting an interaction Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin have. It affects all of us."
