Cyprus opens border crossing point

Cyprus has opened a border crossing post connecting Greek-Cyprus village Kato Pirgos and Turkish-Cyprus Limnitis, AP reports.


The first time discussions of such crossing were held with UN in 2008. The new crossing will improve the conditions in north-west Cyprus, its inhabitants had to go around half the island to reach the capital. Now the road to Nicosia should take approximately an hour. The event is expected to stimulate the Cyprus conflict settlement.
