US thanks Russia for saving Americans

US State Department spokesman Marie Harf thanked Moscow for the assistance rendered by representatives of Russia during the evacuation of American citizens from Yemen.

"We do know that some Americans were able to board a Russian ship. I am happy to thank the Russians publicly for that," Interfax cited her as saying.

However, Harf was unable to answer the question of whether it is true that US Secretary of State John Kerry thanked Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for the evacuation of 18 US citizens.

"I can check on that," State Department spokesman promised.
