Azerbaijani Defense Ministry holds a rotation of its military in Afghanistan

Another military contingent of Azerbaijani peacekeepers has left for Afghanistan, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan said.


A group of 35 Azerbaijani soldiers, who are serving under the NATO-led 'Resolute Support' noncombatant mission, has left for Afghanistan on a rotating basis.


The peacekeeping contingent of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces has been serving under the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan since 2002.  Currently, 94 servicemen, 2 medical officers and 2 engineers are participating in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
