State Department: supply of Russian S-300 to Iran caused by economic situation

State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said that the State Department considers the financial situation in Russia to be a possible reason for lifting the ban on the sale of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran.

"It may be that Russia is doing this purely for the money, given the state of their economy," Gazeta.ru cited Harf as saying.

According to her, the supply of S-300 to Iran will not affect the negotiations on the Iran's nuclear program.
