The first deputy chairman of the Russian Central Bank, Ksenia Yudayeva, in an article published in the Vedomosti newspaper, tries to answer the main, in her opinion, economic issues: what determines the dynamics of the ruble and why the ruble began to strengthen after a strong decline at the end of last year?

The ruble exchange rate will remain relatively stable if there are no significant changes in external factors [significant changes in oil prices, imposing new sanctions or lifting existing ones, unexpected changes to monetary policy in other countries], she believes.

In general, she said, there is now a process of stabilization of the course around the new values, which take into account higher-than-expected oil prices in mid-December-early January, and a lower premium for geopolitical risks and the risks of limiting capital flows.
