Baku prepares its roads for European Games
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIn Baku, special stripes intended for the exclusive use of European Games participants will be painted on special routes of the European Games. The integration group of the Operation Committee of the first European Games (BEGOC) has held a meeting today on this issue under the leadership of Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport, BEGOC CEO Azad Rahimov.
BEGOC representative Panos Protopsalitis noted that these stripes will be completed in late May.
“The subway will be the only transport facility for everyone. The painting of these stripes will start tomorrow. Citizens are recommended to use public transport,” APA cited Protopsalitis.
The BEGOC official noted that parking will also be controlled. According to him, switching the working time to a phased schedule will help eliminate traffic jams.
“High-capacity transport facilities will enter the city only at night. The transport facilities will have badges. This will also apply to taxis. The metro does not travel to all the facilities where the European Games will be held. Therefore, special centers will be established near 8 metro stations to carry fans to the facilities," Protopsalitis said.
