The officers who were charged with a sexual assault of Iranian teenage pilgrims in Jeddah Airport will receive capital punishment, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a letter to Iranian Consulate in Jeddah.

"Regarding the harassment of two Iranian teenage pilgrims in Jeddah International Airport, the ministry says that (Saudi) relevant systems have referred the issue to the interrogation and prosecutors board to complete the required steps. The Saudi Kingdom's system, which has been formed based on Islamic Sharia, abides itself by capital punishment for those who are convicted," TASS cited the letter.

The ministry said that it would inform the Iranian consulate of the sentence.
